The
Story
of Silver
Jeans Co.
Silver Jeans Co. is a division of Western Glove Works, a family-owned business that has produced quality denim products for 90 years. After arriving in Canada in the 1870s the first generation Silver family moved from rural Manitoba to Winnipeg in 1921 to purchase a "dry goods" company. Adding manufacturing to the company's capabilities, the Silvers renamed the organization Western Glove Works and began producing denim and leather workwear including dungarees, mackinaw jackets and of course, gloves, for the Canadian workforce. In the 40s, Western Glove Works phased out its glove business but continued to produce denim and workwear.
Since 1921, Western Glove Works has produced over 60 million pairs of jeans and manufactured denim products for many notable brands such as Marc Jacobs, Calvin Klein, Wrangler, Indian Motorcycle, Anna Sui, Victoria Beckham and Sheryl Crow.
In 1991, Michael Silver parlayed the family's vast denim experience into its own branded label and created Silver Jeans Co. With left-over, left-hand denim, Silver and denim innovator Allan Kemp, created the brand's first silhouette, the Frisco, which went on to sell more than 2 million pairs. Over the past 20 years, Silver Jeans Co. has become known by its devotees as the must-have brand for those who demand a perfect fit from their jeans. The brand is a time-tested collection that blends modern and vintage details with intricate washes and creative designs. Dedicated to the craft of making jeans and the integrity of its product, Silver Jeans Co. gives its fashion-savvy but cost-conscious customer the latest styles and best quality at a price that he or she can afford.
